Creating an Enabling Environment or ‘advocating for change’ focuses on engaging the key stakeholders at provincial and local levels with education and awareness raising interventions on LGBTI issues. The aim is that local communities, their leaders, the health, the police and targeted educational institutions in the area which serves them, will provide an enabling and supportive environment for LGBTI people.
LGBTI people of KwaZulu-Natal are treated equally and accepted by fellow citizens and institutions which serve them.

The Gay & Lesbian Network is part of the Hate Crime Working Group which is a multi-sectoral network of civil society organizations set up to spearhead advocacy and reform initiatives pertaining to hate crimes in South Africa and the region.
