The Rainbow Theatre Group, a project of the Gay & Lesbian Network, performed at Jomba 2015 – a contemporary dance festival run by the University of KwaZulu-Natal Centre for Creative Arts. They were the first lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) drama group to be part of the festival.
The piece that was performed was “My Body, My Life, My Decisions” and was choreographed by Thobeka Bhengu and directed by Fiona Donna Young, who also performed with the dancers as a singer. There were images displayed on the screen behind them during their performance, and these included well known images of corrective rape victims and victims of homophobic hate crimes.
The Gay & Lesbian Network is very proud of all of those involved in the Rainbow Theatre Group!
